Pet Passports

PET PASSPORTS

The issue of a Pet Passport is quite complex and this is intended as a brief guide only. Clients are advised to discuss individual requirements with one of our vets to ensure all requirements are met for the countries to be visited.

A microchip is required,  followed by a Rabies Vaccination and follow up blood test to check rabies antibody levels.

Occasionally this may need to be repeated to obtain adequate levels.

Final checks are required prior to the passport being issued.  Failure to keep up to date with vaccinations will result in a void passport.

Please speak to a member of staff for an estimate of the cost of a passport or if you require any further information or advice.

DEFRA carries up to date information for travel requirements  on their website.  Please click the Pet Travel Scheme Logo to the right of the screen to link to their website.

Further examinations may be required prior to travel

Suitable insecticides/parasite control will be required for the destination country, and prior to return to the UK.

It is the responsibility of the owner of the animal to ensure all necessary preventative and precautionary measures and paperwork are in order prior to travel

Entry and exit requirements and parasite control measures vary from country to country (even within Europe) and advice should be sought from DEFRA prior to travel to ensure all requirements are met.

The Veterinary Health Centre Ltd does not accept responsibility for travel arrangements.  Pet Passports and linked treatment are provided at the request of the animal owner.
